Position Overview

The Dump Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely operation of company-owned dump trucks to transport soil, aggregates, demolition debris, asphalt, and other construction materials to and from excavation sites, disposal facilities, and supplier locations.

This role is a key support position within the Excavation Division, ensuring materials are moved as needed to maintain production schedules and site safety.

This position will work out of our South Plainfield, NJ office. 

responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate single-axle, tri-axle, or tractor-trailer dump trucks to haul and deliver excavation-related materials.
  • Safely load, transport, and unload soil, stone, sand, gravel, asphalt, and debris.
  • Perform pre-trip, en- route, and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers in compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery tickets, and load counts; submit paperwork daily.
  • Communicate with dispatcher & EPE General manager for daily tasks
  • Follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety protocols at all times.
  • Conduct routine truck maintenance checks (oil, fuel, tires, lights, hydraulic systems) and report any defects or required repairs.
  • Ensure proper covering/tarping of loads to meet safety and environmental requirements.
  • Assist excavation and site crews when not driving (spotting, staging materials, site cleanup).
  • Uphold company values of professionalism, safety, and efficiency on all job sites.

qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B, with clean driving record.
  • Minimum 2 years of dump truck driving experience in excavation, construction, or related industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement, and local/state hauling laws.
  • Ability to operate manual transmissions and air brake systems.
  • Physical ability to climb into/out of truck cabs, lift up to 50 lbs., and work outdoors in varying conditions.
