We're currently seeking an Utility Analyst to work at our Corporate office in Piscataway, NJ

This position with work directly with the accounts payable department

Position Summary:

The Utility Analyst within the Accounts Payable team is responsible for accurately processing,

validating, and analyzing utility invoices across the residential/commercial portfolio.

This role plays a critical role in ensuring timely payments, maintaining vendor relationships,

and supporting the AP department’s efficiency by tracking, reporting, and resolving discrepancies.

This position will work closely with Property Managers and utility vendors to ensure all invoices are properly coded, approved, and aligned with company policies and financial controls.

This position is an on-site, not remote.

Responsibilities

  • Review, audit, and process utility invoices (electric, gas, water, sewer) for accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor and track utility expenses across multiple properties or locations
  • Identify billing discrepancies and work with vendors to resolve issues
  • Analyze usage trends and recommend cost-saving initiatives
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of utility invoices into accounting systems (RealPage)
  • Reconcile utility accounts and maintain proper documentation
  • Collaborate with property managers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure efficient operations
  • Support audits and provide requested documentation as needed

qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in utilities, accounts payable, or financial analysis
  • Experience working with utility billing and/or property management systems preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in real estate/property management industry
  • Familiarity with utility expense management and sustainability practices
  • Experience with large data sets and reporting tools
  • Strong communication and vendor management skills
